Piassaba Fibre

Piassaba Fibre
PIASSABA FIBRE (also Piassava and Para-grass)
A brown, stiff and wiry fibre from the leaf stalks of the monkey bast tree in Brazil. It is used for brooms and coarse ropes. Coarse cables are made from this fibre and these are very durable and so light that they float on the water. Yielded by two palms, Attalea Funifera and Leopodinia Piassaba.
